The Entrepreneurship Club is delighted to invite you to “Search Funds – The best investment asset class?” panel event.

After consistently delivering IRR returns of more than 30% in the USA, the search fund model is gaining momentum in the UK. The LBS Entrepreneurship Club is delighted to invite you to a speaker event on search funds presented by Simon Webster, a successful search fund entrepreneur.

This session will appeal to investors, their advisors and aspiring entrepreneurs. The search fund model is a method for entrepreneurs to acquire a business while receiving support from experienced business men and women. It is a well established route in the USA but the model is still relatively nascent and unknown in the UK.
Simon Webster was the first person to undertake a funded search in the UK. He was introduced to the model by Rob Johnson during his MBA at London Business School. He raised the funds to undertake the search and to secure the acquisition partly from LBS alumni. Between 1995 and 2005 he grew the acquired business from £3.5m to £30m sales and EBITDA from £0.4m to £2.4m. He successfully sold the business realising an excellent return for investors in December 2005. Simon is now advising current LBS graduates who are raising search funds.
